This summer I am a part of the outreach team. Every week we plan a new outreach to meet students. Last week we had a sport night and it was more successful than I could have imagined. We probably had close to 100 people out in the middle of the city playing sports, even though it was not normal to see this in the middle of their city. Some students even told us that often the police will come and ask people to get off of the grass where we were playing, but this did not happen to us!
For outreach this week my team decided to plan a film festival...one problem...where do we find a facility to fit 100 people.(this is a very large space for Russia) I spent last Friday walking around with one of the Russian believers, Natasha, looking for a place to have a film festival and he ended up at the Ural Hotel. The room was huge and it was already equipped with a sound system and projector!!! The downside was that it was $130 an hour to rent. Natasha spoke with the lady helping us and told her we would like to rent the space for the next three weeks, but that we could not do it for that price. The lady said that she would speak with the administration, but that she could not get back to us until the following Monday. Our team spent the weekend praying and preparing for the film festival and on Monday Natasha called and said the administration of the hotel had accepted our offer and would give us 25% off! This was amazing! That is a lot of money off in Russia and we had a comfortable place for outreach for the next three weeks.
Now, that everything was prepared we just had to wait and see who God would bring...and when the time came, He was more than faithful! More than 60 Russian students showed up and there about 100 people at outreach again this week! We showed three films and discussed different aspects of life after each one. After the first one we talked about mistakes we had made in life and whether we would undo them or not. The second was about personal freedom and if we would share that with others if we found it, and finally, the third one was about laying down your life for someone you didn't know. After the third movie there were many students crying. It was amazing to see how powerful that story is. Many of our students shared their testimonies or the gospel in their discussion groups and we had one Russian believer share his testimony. Once we were finished we had students fill out comment cards and one of the questions was, "would you be interested in speaking more about spiritual things?" We had an overwhelming number of "yes" answers! I was blown away!
The Lord has truly gone before us in this city. He has been preparing this city for his gospel. We have found favor with many people in the city and when we stepped out in faith and were bold with the gospel the Lord provided. The students were not angry with us for sharing last night, but instead they were interested in hearing more.
Please pray:
~we would be able to follow up with those contacts quickly
~we would be bold in sharing the gospel
~the Lord would open the eyes of students to know him
~the Lord would change the lives of the people in this city and that our team would display Christ to this city
~next week's outreach, we would be creative and share Christ (it will be on wednesday at 7pm, which is 5am in America)
~our team would walk in the confidence of Christ
Thank you for your prayers in support! Please know they are felt here. We could not do any of this without the army behind us praying. It is great to hear from you and please let us know if we can pray for you!

Thanks for keeping us up to date! I love it when I'm bored at work and there are posts from the frontlines! Nothing is more encouraging than hearing of the teams boldness and genuineness. May God continue to captivate your hearts, may His Spirit continue to impact hearts, and may everyone you meet, whether Russian or teammate, desire Jesus all the more.
